The Reading Revolution

"Reading is not just a hobby; it's a passport to endless adventures and a roadmap to discovering our true passions."

Once upon a time in a small town, there were three best friends named Rahul, Maya, and Aryan. They were typical teenagers, always engrossed in their social media accounts, scrolling through endless posts and stories. School was just a means to get through the day, and they hadn't given much thought to their future.

One day, their school announced Reading Day, a special occasion dedicated to promoting the joy of reading. The announcement intrigued Rahul, Maya, and Aryan, but they couldn't fathom why reading would be important in their lives. However, they decided to give it a chance, thinking it might be a welcome break from their monotonous routines.

The trio made their way to the school library, where they were met with rows of shelves adorned with books of various genres. With a hint of skepticism, they picked up a few books each and settled down in a cozy corner.

Rahul randomly picked a travelogue and started reading about exotic places around the world. As he delved into the author's vivid descriptions, he felt an undeniable sense of wanderlust stirring within him. The words seemed to transport him to far-off lands, and he couldn't help but dream about exploring the world himself. That's when it struck him—he wanted to become a travel vlogger, sharing his adventures and inspiring others to step out of their comfort zones.

Meanwhile, Maya stumbled upon a collection of interviews with influential people. As she read about their thoughts, ideas, and experiences, she found herself intrigued by the power of conversation. She had always been a great talker, and now she saw the potential of using her gift to create meaningful content. Maya decided to start her own podcast, where she could engage with interesting individuals and share their stories with the world.

Aryan, being a music enthusiast, picked up a biography of a renowned singer. He became engrossed in the story of their journey, struggles, and triumphs in the music industry. The more he read, the more he realized that music was his true calling. Aryan resolved to pursue a career in singing and make a name for himself as a talented vocalist.

As the friends finished reading their respective books, they couldn't contain their excitement. They gathered together and shared their newfound aspirations. Their dreams had taken a complete U-turn from the conventional paths they had been expected to follow.

With laughter and enthusiasm, Rahul, Maya, and Aryan decided to embark on their chosen paths, fully aware of the challenges ahead. They knew they might face raised eyebrows and skepticism from those around them, but they were determined to prove that unconventional careers could lead to success and fulfillment.

And so, armed with their newfound passion, Rahul set off with his camera, capturing breathtaking landscapes and cultural experiences, while Maya launched her podcast, engaging in thought-provoking conversations with people from all walks of life. Aryan began his musical journey, tirelessly honing his singing skills and collaborating with talented musicians.

As time passed, their dedication, talent, and unique approach caught the attention of many. They gained followers, fans, and recognition, proving that one can indeed create a successful career by following their true passion.

The town that once had no idea about their career aspirations now applauded Rahul, Maya, and Aryan for their courage to break free from societal expectations. They had not only discovered the importance of reading but also embraced their individuality, inspiring others to do the same.

And so, on every Reading Day, Rahul, Maya, and Aryan would return to their school, sharing their stories with the next generation of teenagers who were yet to discover their true potential. Their journey started with a simple act of reading, proving that sometimes, the pages of a book can turn your life around in the most unexpected and delightful ways.

Woman Without D

The sun rays fought their way through the gap in the curtains, slicing across my eyes like a physical blow. My alarm screamed—a digital screech that seemed to vibrate inside my teeth. I swiped it off, the silence rushing back in, but the relief didn't follow. I lay there, staring at the ceiling fan cutting through the stagnant air. Which day is this? I wondered. It felt like the same day I had lived for the past six months. A gray, heavy loop. "Get up, Sruthi," I whispered to the empty room. "Just get up." I am Sruthi. On paper, I am a twenty-eight-year-old Senior Analyst at a top-tier firm. I am supposed to be in the prime of my life—ambitious, vibrant, climbing the ladder. But as I peeled the duvet off my body, I didn't feel twenty-eight. I felt ancient. I had slept eight hours. I had gone to bed at 10:00 PM like a disciplined child. Yet, as I swung my legs over the side of the bed, gravity felt twice as strong as it should be. There was no "ready to ...

The Brilliant Criminal We Chose Not to See

I came across a line recently — just a casual post online — and I haven't been able to shake it since. It said: "Georgekutty has become an underrated character just because he is played by Sri Mohanlal." I read it. Scrolled past. Came back. Read it again. And then I sat with it for a long time, because I think it is one of the great observations anyone has made about the Drishyam franchise. Here I am, still thinking about it. We have spent over a decade watching this man — this cable TV operator from a small village, fourth-grade dropout, devoted husband, fiercely loving father — and we have cheered for him. Every. Single. Time. We rooted for him in 2013. We stood up for him in 2021. And now, in 2026, with Drishyam 3 fresh in our hearts, we are doing it all over again. But here is the question I want to sit with today: Who exactly are we cheering for? Let me describe Georgekutty to you — not as the hero the story frames him as, but as who he actually is. He is a man with...

Onam: A Journey Back Home

Onam has always been more than just a festival. For me, it has always been about being at home—with family, friends, and loved ones. The flowers, the laughter, the new clothes, and of course, the grand sadya—it was never about just traditions, but about the feeling of togetherness. When I think back to my childhood, my first memories of Onam take me to Mavelikara, my mother’s home. I can still recall the open spaces filled with countless flowers, the playful chaos of cousins running around, and the joy of slipping into brand-new dresses. Those days had a vibe of their own. Later, in Kottayam, Onam turned into a more intimate affair, but the spirit remained just as strong. After the festival, all of us cousins would gather at my great-grandmother’s house—a yearly reunion that we cherished deeply. My great-grandmother was the pillar that held our family together. She was a woman of wisdom and warmth, with a childlike charm that drew us to her. I remember her slipping small amou...
